7th Inning Explosion Propels Phillies to Victory
Some things never change.  The Mets always collapse, the NFL pre-season bores me to death, Brad Lidge can't consistently end games quickly, and the Phillies always find a way to overpower opponents.  Tonight was a classic display of what the Phillies have been known to be about, 9 of there 12 runs coming from Utley, Howard, and Werth, the 3-4-5 hitters.  Seven of the twelve runs cam... Catchers Play Big Role in Phillies Win
The one good thing about almost being no-hit, is that the next game, you know you can't do any worse.  That may not have been exactly what the Phillies were thinking going into tonight's ballgame, but they were certainly thinking something optimistic.  The Phillies went into the game down 3.5 games out of the NL East, fresh off an Atlanta win.  However, this did not scare them, and ... Kuroda's Near No-No Ruins Phillies Streak
Tonight, Roy Halladay was on the mound, which could only mean one of two things.  Either the Phillies would lose, scoring <1 runs, or they would win, scoring 2, 3 or even 1 run.  Unfortunately, Hiroki Kuroda decided to pitch, probably his best game of the year, a trend most pitchers have against Halladay.  Kuroda pitched 7.1 hitless innings, in that time striking out seven and al... Hamels Masterpiece Gives Him First Win Since Break
Going into today, it had been about one and a half months since Cole Hamels had gotten a win.  In that time he had managed eight starts, 63 strikeouts, a mere 11 walks, and three losses.  In those losses he has given up a total of seven runs.  Also in those outings, the rest of the team has given him two runs of support.  Today, all of Cole's luck changed, and his hard work pay... Small Ball, Great Pitching Gives Phillies Second Straight Win
Who would have guessed that the Phillies would win two games in a row, scoring a total of only six runs in those two games.  Yet, in San Diego, the Phillies have found wins in spectacular pitching, and small ball.  Today they were out hit 6 to 3 by the Padres however they still came out on top, winning by a score of 3-1.

Today, Joe Blanton got the start against the Padres, and he ...

Brad Lidge Hurts Everyone With Blown Saves
Usually when Brad Lidge blows games I feel a wide range of different emotions.  Worry, when he loads the bases with no outs.  Disappointment, when he gives up that big hit with two outs.  Upset, when that game winning/tying run crosses the plate.  Tonight though?  Just rage.  Nothing but pure anger and rage.  But soon after I began to think.  Forget tha... Phillies Look to Find Bats at Enormous Petco
Well this is just embarrassing.  Last night, the Astros downed the Phillies 5-1, completing the first 4-game  sweep of the Phillies at home in Citizens Bank Park.  The last team to 4-game sweep the Phillies at home, was the Mets at the Vet in September of 2002.  The worst part of this sweep is that it came during a race to the playoffs.  Luckily for the Phillies both ... Not Even Halladay Can Solve Astros
If you had asked the Phillies' management who would have caused the most trouble for the Phillies this year, the Astros would probably not be the answer you would have gotten.  However, the Astros continue to create problems for the Phillies as they make a push towards the playoffs.  Today's match-up showcased former Phillie J.A Happ, and current Phillie ace Roy Halladay.  ...
